Next meeting: Saturday, January 12, 2019

Due to a funeral scheduled Saturday afternoon at St. Matthew, the guild meeting will still be held at St. Matthew from 10-12, but we'll be in a different room. When you come in the "front" door (up the three steps), just take a left to the end of the hall.  We will have our regular meeting, we will still be exchanging names for Secret Pal, and the Gelli Printing demo program will still happen, but all in tighter quarters than we're accustomed to. Please bring only an apron and no other supplies, as our space will be limited. We will have space for refreshments, but we will not make coffee or otherwise use the kitchen, so as to stay out of the way of anyone who may be working in there.

We are RESCHEDULING the Gelli Printing Fun workshop to the afternoon of February 9, following the meeting that day. Please plan to bring your registration and check for the workshop this Saturday.

Please help spread the word, if you happen to know of anyone planning to visit us on Saturday (and especially if you know of any non-members who were planning to take the workshop).

What about Gelli prints?

Ever wonder how those interesting background papers for mixed media are made? Often it is with a gelatin printing plate, AKA Gelli plates. In January Suzi Ickles and Amy Taylor will explain that oh so fun process that can be so addictive. You will learn what the plates are, how to make your own, watch us demo the printing process, and then you will have the chance to get your hands dirty making your own prints. You do not need to bring anything, except an apron (as acrylic paint may be flying) and, if you have any, book or music pages to print on. We will have plenty of blank paper and paints for the morning program.

In the afternoon we will continue the fun with a half-day workshop to give you more time printing and the chance to make a little art journal. A registration form is attached to the end of this newsletter. For the afternoon, you will need your own gelatin plate (purchased or homemade) and a few other items listed on the form.
