Whimsical Lettering

We will explore monoline techniques and how to adapt a simple alphabet into energetic, whimsical letters. Roxanne Glaser will share how to adapt the skeletons of letters by adding decorative details and shapes. Participants will explore modern calligraphy, block lettering, word shapes, decorative details, and embellishing as ways to develop your own personal whimsical lettering style to complement a variety of craft projects, such as gift boxes and tags, labels, signs, guestbooks, greeting cards, and much more.

Supplies:
  • Black monoline markers of various sizes (i.e., Micron, LePen, Sharpie, PaperMate Flair extra thin monoline (.25), Staedtler Pigment Liners)
  • Paper (copy paper, sketchbook, or Canson marker paper
  • Pencil and eraser
  • Optional: embellishment pens in different colors (glitter, gel, gold, silver, etc.); additional colors of monoline markers
