Calligraphy overview
by guild members
In conjunction with our 35th celebration art exhibit,
the guild is presenting our monthly September meeting and program at the Art
Center Waco. The program (starting at 11 am) is open to the public. We will examine
four different types of calligraphy from 4 members’ perspectives; each will
have about 15 minutes to demonstrate and explain their style.
·
Blackletter/gothic with broad edge nibs – K.
Paul Holt
·
Copperplate with pointed nibs – Jane Stanfield
·
Brush lettering with flexible felt tip markers –
Karon Wheeless
·
Pencil lettering – Jeanne Dittmann
The business meeting will begin at 10 am; the calligraphy
program will start at 11 am. This is not a hands-on program so no supply
list, but you are welcome to bring your favorite tools to show our Art Center
guests. After the program, the presenters and members will offer individual
assistance and hands-on opportunities with the tools. The new director of the Art Center, Meghan
Bias, has warmly welcomed us and looks forward to future collaborations. This
would be a great program to invite friends and family who might be interested
in learning calligraphy.
