Repoussage: Embossing metal!

Repoussage is a metalworking technique of ancient origin used by most early civilizations, in which a malleable metal is ornamented or shaped by working from the reverse side.  The word repouss√© is French, meaning “pushed up,” derived from the Latin pulsare, “to push forward.” Intricate designs and lettering can be wrought on pliable metal, such as silver and copper, using this technique. Jo Anne Norwood will teach us this skill. Come see how you can adapt this to your lettering.

Time with the Saint John’s Bible

Our program for January will be a special presentation and time to peruse the Baylor University Libraries Heritage Edition of the St. John’s Bible. We will have three volumes on display — there will be a brief presentation about the project and then time for everyone to get a close look at the artistry.

No need to bring anything for the program this month.
