Learn Peter Thornton's Button Alphabet
Come to the March meeting to learn Button Lettering as well as parallel pen tips! This lettering style was invented by Peter Thornton. Louie Lemoine used it (with his permission) and Bonnie Houser (with the San Antonio guild) took the class. Bonnie generously shared it with us at the Southwest Calligraphy conference. Christy Town thought it would be a great program for us to have some fun with.  

Supply list:  


  • liquid watercolors like Ecoline, Hydrus watercolors, or liquid inks...no sumi
  • parallel pen with or w/o ink; size 6.0 mm or 3.8 mm (can be ordered through MC Art Supplies)
  • marker paper by Canson, or any smooth blank paper
  • a few favorite words or short quotes 
  • two water cups
  • paper towels 
  • dinky dips or small containers for mixing colors
  • colored pencils 
  • light pad, light box, or iPad (optional)
