Repoussage: Embossing metal!

Repoussage is a metalworking technique of ancient origin used by most early civilizations, in which a malleable metal is ornamented or shaped by working from the reverse side.  The word repoussé is French, meaning “pushed up,” derived from the Latin pulsare, “to push forward.” Intricate designs and lettering can be wrought on pliable metal, such as silver and copper, using this technique. Jo Anne Norwood will teach us this skill. Come see how you can adapt this to your lettering.

Supplies:
Pencil, eraser
12” metal ruler
Scissors or X-acto knife
Masking tape
Tracing paper
Hard surface board – glass, Plexiglas, or cutting mat
Stylus, liner/outliners that you may have, even a small metal crochet hook
